When hiring the Palais Theatre, you are welcome to use the following facilities

Moveable Seating

Consisting of:

  • 13 benches of 5 seats
  • 20 benches of 4 seats
  • 7 benches of 3 seats
  • 100 single seats – total capacity approx 250
  • Fixed Seating in Balcony – total capacity 95


(if you have hired the Supper Room)

The supper room kitchen has a servery bench and sink with hot water and glass dishwasher. There is some bench space, an oven, and a microwave oven. This is suitable for heating food and limited food preparation. It is recommended that you view the facility prior to planning/holding your event. There are also glasses and an urn for hire.


(if you have hired the Main Hall) 

The stage is a basic platform with a sound sanded surface with manually operated stage curtains. There is a lighting bar located behind the proscenium arch, with 4 adjustable stage lights but no dimmers. There is also a sound system and video projection equipment for hire, please contact Palais Bookings for more information.

Upper house

The upper balcony is available for use and seats around 95


Gas heating is available


The Palais is lucky to have some high quality media equipment available for hire, such as a cinema quality film projector (courtesy of Tasmania Community Fund grant). Other equipment includes;

A sound system to support the projector and a fixed screen over the stage

An overhead projector and portable screen suitable for the meeting rooms.
