The Palais Theatre in Franklin wishes to sell remnants of circa 1930’s art deco upholstery fabric, recently removed from approx 80 theatre seats. Offered for sale in one lot, the largest pieces of fabric are approximately 40cm x 40cm; however other pieces are smaller in size. Remnants are in variable condition (from very good to worn) and may still contain upholstery studs.
Brass on Tour
The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra brass band played to an appreciative crowd at the Franklin Palais on Thursday, 9 November, 2017 and the night was a great success for all involved.
The Palais Management Committee meet the 2nd Tuesday monthly. Community are welcome to observe or address the committee (with notice). Please use the General Enquiry Form to notify the PMC of your intent. NB in September the meeting is on the 5th due to the AGM being on the 12th.
At the request of regular hirers, the PMC have purchased 5 new folding bar tables as a trial. These tables will be available for Palais room hires only. They are perfect for supper room functions and to create and intimate performance space in the main hall. At this stage our current chairs will be used with them. We look forward to feed back on their usefulness.
The Palais has put together a package that can be used by funeral directors or directly by the community. This includes;
- Hall hire
- Use of the cinema projector (technical assistance provided if required).
- Use of the sound system
Please speak to your funeral director if this is suitable for you.
The Franklin Palais is now over 100 years old and needs lots of assistance to maintain her glory and keep her functional for the community to enjoy. Friends of the Palais is a new group set up to encourage locals to become involved with the Palais in an informal way. Investing what time they have to give without formal commitment. If you’re interested in joining, go to our contacts page and fill out a general enquiry form.
Weddings are a popular event held at the Palais. The Art Deco grandeur is perfect for your special day as past happy couples have shown.
